June 2001

Since the Sydney Olympics we had a break over the winter and then started training again in the spring. We are now working with Proctor masts and North sails to develop ideas we have in improving our speed.

So far we have been to 2 major international events this season, Hyeres regatta in France and Spa regatta in Holland. We won Hyeres and got silver in Spa. With these results it has now put us number 1 on the World rankings, which we are very happy about. Spa was a very good result for us as we had a bad first day (15th overall) then steadily came back over the week till we were 2nd overall, also we won 4 races over the event and had exceptional down wind speed.

We are now making our final preparations for the European championships in Dublin. We are doing a weeks sailing in Lyme Regis to sharpen up on our boat handling and doing some boat speed work. We will then have a week off to do some fitness and get the boat ready before driving out to Dublin on the 7th July.
